Unlock iPhone 3G/3GS 3.1.2 Firmware using Blacksn0w

Few minutes back blacksn0w was released to Unlock iPhone 3G/3GS OS 3.1.2 baseband 05.11.07. Blacksn0w is bundled with blackra1n RC3 that comes with hacktivation support, 15 second speed improvement, Tiger+PPC support, and installation of the latest blackra1n.app. Follow the steps below to Unlock iPhone 3.1.2 firmware using blacksn0w.

Steps to unlock iPhone 3.1.2 firmware

Unlock 05.11.07 baseband with Blacksn0w (Current blackra1n users)
Step 1- Run blackra1n.app on your iPhone.

Step 2- You will notice Icy replaced by an option “ra1n”.

Step 3- Install this to upgrade your app.
Step 4- After upgrading, run blackra1n.app again.
Step 5- You will see “sn0w”.

Step 6- Install this, and enjoy your unlocked iPhone.

iPhone users who are looking to upgrade to iPhone 3.1.2 firmware and the corresponding baseband, willing to restore for the latest, or stuck on the “Connect to iTunes” screen must follow the steps below to unlock iPhone 3.1.2 firmware.
Step 1- Connect your iPhone or iPod to the computer.
Step 2- Download blackra1n RC3 for Mac OS X on your computer desktop.
Step 3- Extract the blackra1n zip file and double click the blackra1n icon to launch the program.
Step 4- A pop-up window will appear with make it ra1n button. Click on ‘make it ra1n’ button.

Step 5- You iPhone will enter in recovery mode and your iPhone or iPod Touch will reboot. After reboot a message will appear that says ‘blackra1n is free software and not meant for commercial use’. Click Ok to continue.

Step 6- After reboot process is completed your iPhone is jailbroken and you will notice a blackra1n icon on the iPhone/iPod Touch.

Step 7- Click the blackRa1n icon to launch the application (internet connectivity is must to complete the process).
Step 8- Select sn0w and then press the Install button at the top right of the screen to download and install the package you selected.

Step 9- After installing blacksn0w you will be prompted with a Post Install log for sn0w. CommCenter will be restarted and there is no need to reboot. If your carrier doesn’t support 3G then disable it. Press the Close button to continue.
Step 10- Voilla! Your iPhone 3.1.2 firmware is unlocked.

Hi. I has a 3GS phone, ver 3.1.2 f/w 05.11.07. When I use Blackra1, things happen till entering recovery etc, but I do not go beyond "done, wait for reboot". How long do you think it should take for wait for reboot stage. Running out of patience, I ran Blackra1 a couple of times, but all waited at "wait, for reboot". Any comments on what am I doing wrong. Should the SIM be in the phone while doign this and any specific setting the phone must be in. Please let me know. Thanks guys.

Hi, Please help, I have succesfully install the blackrain icon in my iphone. However, when I tap on the icon in my iphone, I always get error message: "Please check your internet connection". I was in the Wi-Fi enable and able to browse internet go to iTune from the iphone but whenever I tap on the balcrain icon, I always get that error message and I have not seen any Cydia, Rock or Sn0w applications at all... Please help! Thanks

Hi Everyone,

I just downloaded and installed blackra1n.exe on my iPhone 3G which i had mistakenly upgraded to 3.1.2. The blackra1n icon appeared o my iphone after a reboot and i tapped on it but there was no internet connection. Then i uninstalled the blackra1n.exe by clicking on the Uninstall blackra1n button on the screen above. After that i'm trying to install blackra1n again and again but it is not appearing to be installed on my iPhone.

Now i'm stuck with locked iPhone 3G with BB 05.11.07.

Please help.

I follow the above instruction to try to jailbreak my iPhone 3GS (Firmware 3.1.2). Every step is okay. However, if I cold start my iphone again, it will go to recovery and the iTune request to restore. Thus, I dom't know the jailbreak is success or not.

I successfully jailbroke my iphone 3GS 3.1.2, however, when I install winterboard or sbsettings or any other cydia app the "connect to itunes" screen appears and it won't change(freezes)? What am I doing wrong or what do I need to do other than running blackra1n?

Thank you for your quick response. I managed finally to unlock it with ultrasn0w 0.92.
I am now using firmware 3.1.2 and baseband 04.26.08 ...Thank you so much !!
One last detail : is it posible to et rid of the pinapple boot logo? I know logome is out there but I am affraid to use it as I have seen so many comments that is buggy and after the home or sleep button do not work !!
