Typing Replaces Selection in Microsoft Word-Help

There is very annoying feature available with Microsoft Word, which does not seems to be useful enough, at-least for me. I do a lot of editing while copying some text from a webpage to Microsoft Word. But while editing a document, the newly typed text was replacing the existing one. For Example:  Let’s say you type the following text initially. “The quick brown jumped over the little lazy dog”.

Later you find that you forgot to add “fox” in the sentence. Now when I tried to enter the fox in between, the newly entered text was replacing the existing text. What should I do?


Simple, Navigate to Tools->Options->Edit and uncheck ‘Overtype Mode’ as shown in the screenshot below.
