If you are looking for a simplest method that can convert your blog hosted on blogger to wordpress, livejournal or movabletype and vice versa then use the ‘Blog Converters Appengine’. Google has just released Google Blog Converters. It’s an open source project that can convert blogs from popular platforms like blogger, wordpress, movabletype, livejournal and vice versa. The engine takes care of the file formats used in various blogging platforms. Sometimes the file exported from blogger is not compatible with wordpress blog. The project takes care of the compatibility issues and much more. Below is the step by step process of how to transfer the blog from Blogger to WordPress.
Blogger to WordPress-
Step-01 – Login to your Blogger Account and click on ‘Settings’. Export your blog into the Blogger Atom export format by clicking ‘Export blog’ under Blog tools.
Step-02 – Sometimes the file format (to be imported to wordpress) is not compatible with wordpress driven blog and all of your posts or comments may not be imported to wordpress blog. To make the file compatible, visit blog converters appengine tool. Browse for a Blogger export file (file downloaded in previous step) and press ‘Convert’ to translate that file into a WordPress WXR export file suitable for importing into a WordPress blog.
Step-03 – Login to your WordPress Account.
Step-04 –Navigate to Tools under Dashboard and click on “Import”. This importer allows you to import posts and comments from your existing Blogger account into your WordPress blog.
Step-05 – To use this importer, you must have a Google account and an upgraded (New, was Beta) blog hosted on blogspot.com or a custom domain (not FTP). Select the appropriate blog hosting service. In this case select ‘Blogger’.
Step-06 – Click the ‘Authorize’ button. This option tells Blogger to let WordPress access your account. Click on ‘Grant Access’ button and sign in to your blogger account.
Step-07 – Click the magic button ‘Import’ to the import the posts and comments hosted on blogger to wordpress.
WordPress to Blogger-
The number of bloggers who wishes to move from self hosted wordpress to blogger may be few in number but the number may be large for bloggers who want to move from free wordpress.com to blogger. Just follow the instruction on how to move a blog from WordPress to Blogger.
