1. Reduce the size of images and pictures: If your web page has a lot of pictures then make sure the size of the image or picture is not more than 10KB. The more the size and pictures the more time it will take to load. You can easily reduce the size of the pictures. There are software’s which can reduce the size of image by decreasing the quality of the picture or by changing the file extension. This can be done by simply opening the file and save it with a different extension. You can change the size by changing the image file type. eg. Use “.gif” files instead of “.jpg” files as their size is smaller.
2. Optimize Your Layout: If you observe carefully, you will find that your blog loads in a certain order. The banner loads first, then the columns load from left to right. If the layout is the 3 column type then firstly all the items in the left column will be displayed first and then your main post will load. So, to avoid delaying of display of your post keep left side of your page less loaded. Items that require contacting with another site, like advertisements and affiliate links put them in right sidebar of your blog, instead of the left. The content you want the readers to see first should be placed in the top left sidebar.
3. Provide links to audio’s and video’s: The audio and video files takes a lot of time to load. Try not to embed all video and audio files in the sidebar instead you can create links to such files in the post. You can use a video hosting service, like YouTube, to upload the file and display a player in your posts. This allows readers to play the videos without leaving your blog but minimizes the effect of the video upload on the entire site. You should try to use such audio file formats which are smaller in size.
4. Reduce the content in front page: If there is a lot of content on your front page, it will more time to load. Reducing the content of the front page can reduce the load time of your blog. For this extended feature can be used. Eg. “read more..” link can be added to the post, so that if your post is long then it can be loaded on clicking on read more link. Also the content can be reduced by not showing all the post and create links like archives or posts month wise display, so that all posts are not loaded when the main page is loaded.
5. Remove unwanted extra tags and whitespace from your html: If you know html and html tags you can remove the extra tags from your code. Generally when you use any editor or html code generator tool, it creates empty tags for your help.
Eg;If you find such tag which does not have any impact on your code, you can remove them from your code. Remove Excess “Whitespace”. Whitespace is the spaces between your coding; removing the unneeded tabs and spaces also helps reduce the time to load the html. Be careful while removing tags, remove only if you know that they are not used anywhere else it can disturb your blog.
6. Remove bad links from your blog: Generally it happens when you initially create a blog you put link to many sites. But may be after sometimes hose link gets changed and they don’t work, they just go to nowhere. Those are called bad links. You should remove such links from your blog. This saves lots of extra loading time which is wasted by the server in searching those bad links.
