Read any News Paper Online with Newseum

| More

Today I luckily discovered a website that displays more than 700 newspapers front pages in their original, unedited form from around the world. If you want to get a quick snapshot of news or events that are making headlines in top newspapers then you need not to remember or search for the URL’s of newspapers, just visit newseum. Newseum is an online ‘News Museum’ for top stories. The interface of the app is neat, clean and user friendly.

Newspapers submit their front pages as image files to the Newseum via the Internet. The gallery gives visitors a quick snapshot at the day’s news on up to 80 newspaper front pages from every state, the District of Columbia and countries around the world. The full selection of front pages is available on newseum.org each day by 8:30 a.m.

The articles can be read in number of ways.

  1. Gallery view - Click on the thumbnail image to open the new window.
  2. Map view - Move your mouse pointer over the map. You will notice an image of the newspaper. Click it to open the newspaper in new window.
  3. List view – Move your mouse pointer down the list of newspaper names until an image of the newspaper you want to view appears on the right side of the screen, and then click to open the new window.

Once you have opened the newspaper in window, you will notice two links at the top. One of the links ‘Website’ will take you directly to the newspaper’s Web site. The other link ‘Readable PDF’ opens a PDF file of the front page, which has an inbuilt magnifier tool that you can use to zoom in on any part of the page. You can also save the PDF file (to do so right click the mouse button and click ‘Save Link as…’) to your computer as well.

If you want your local newspaper to be included in the list then you may ask your newspaper to send an e-mail to frontpages@newseum.org asking specific instructions on how to participate in “Today’s Front Pages.”

Warning!

Some front pages may contain material that is objectionable to some visitors. Viewer discretion is advised.

  • The downside of this service is that they print only the front page. The front page may not always carry news or informational content. Sometimes it is full of pictures only.
  • Wow, very cool. I always loved going to the library and looking at other papers across the country. I can't wait until the day we can see archives of all of these papers.
