One of the best ways to get your content in front of thousands of people is to promote your content via social media websites like Digg, Reddit and Mixx. Most people believe that great content is all that is needed to get to the front page but this cannot be further from the truth.
Digg for example is all about connections with power diggers. Sure great content helps but in itself is not enough to get the attention you want. It is extremely rare for anyone to submit great content and it to hit the front page unless that person is a power digger. It can take months just to get your account the right credibility to befriend power users. Most power users spend hours upon hours a day digging their friend’s submissions in hopes that their submissions will get dugg in return.
Here are my top 3 tips to become a power digger:
1) Be active and if you are friends with someone you must digg their submissions.
2) Digg at least five days per week and 125+ stories per day.
3) Submit quality content and not promotional material
The single biggest mistake new members make are trying to “friend” power users too soon. None and I mean NONE of the power diggers will accept you as a friend if you have very little diggs. I suggest you digg other people’s stories for a few months before even attempting to become friends with other diggers. When a top digger gets a friend request they will look at the profile of the person requesting friendship. In the profile it shows how active of a digger you are.
Top diggers use programs and website to see if others are digging their stories. You can gain friends by getting the attention of other dig users. The most common statistics checks to see what dig users have dugg your last 10 submissions. If a power digger sees that you are interested in his/her stories they will often add you as a friend. This is a great way to gaining more power diggers.
If you are not able to spend this type of time on Social Media Marketing then you might want to consider hiring a company that specializes in Digg Social Media Marketing. Most of these companies have multiple experts that will help advice and promote your content.
