I have a movie in .rmvb(real media) format. I downloaded the related subtitles in .srt format. But when I play the movie file using real player, it doesn’t show the subtitles. What is the best way to play rmvb file with subtitles in Mac OS or Window OS.
Mac OS
To run rmvb file along with subtitles in Mac OS you need to download and install Sources and binary codec packages.
- Visit the Mplayer download page here.
- As shown in screenshot below download and install the source – ‘MPlayer OS X 1.0rc2’. You can download by either HTTP or FTP. Some files are also available via BitTorrent to reduce our massive bandwidth requirements. Please use BitTorrent if you can.
- Scroll down further to the page with Title- Binary Codec Packages. Install the binary codec package with name – ‘Mac OS X x86 20060611’ as shown below in screenshot.
- Place your rmvb file and subtitle(srt) file in the same folder with same name. Refer my previous article on ‘How to add subtitles in a movie’.
- Play the rmvb movie with subtitle. To change the subtitle settings in MPlayer navigate to Preferences > General > Subtitle Settings > Font
Note-To install MPlayer you need sources, a set of binary codecs, and a skin if you want a graphical user interface. Installation instructions are contained in the README, the installation section of the documentation has more complete information.
Windows OS
