Majority of people uses IE as web browser and even I use IE as my web browser .One day I was downloading a PDF file from one of the website. When I clicked on a PDF download link in a web browser the file automatically started opening in web browser and it was taking more time to download, this was very annoying to me and I finally closed that webpage. Same problem exists with IE 7, Firefox, Opera, Safari and etc. If you don’t like this auto open in browser behavior, and would like the PDF file to open in Adobe Reader instead, you can do some configuration to launch Adobe Reader to open the PDF file once a link is clicked to be the default action. To set Adobe Reader as default program for PDF download link when clicked in web browser, follow the following steps:
Step2: Click on Edit in the menu bar.
Step3: Then click on Preferences in the drop down menu list.
Step4: Click on the Internet category on the left pane.
Step5: Uncheck the check box for Display PDF in Browser as shown above in screenshot.
Step6: Click OK when done.
Step7: Restart the computer.
The next time whenever you try to download a PDF file, it will auto open in Adobe Reader instead of IE, Firefox, Opera, Safari or other web browser. The other way you can use is Right Click on the pdf file link and Click on Save Target as and save the file to any of your preferred location and you can open the file.
