The search engine giant Google today launched a new service Google URL Shortener.that allows you to grab a long web addresses into short, manageable URLs. Micro-blogging services like Twitter are increasingly popular. The same goes for the small status updates on social networks such as Facebook and MySpace. The space for personal messages, in most cases limited to a few characters. If you want to insert a link, this is the place often already filled.

Google URL shortener is not a stand-alone service; you can’t use it to shorten links directly. Currently, Google URL Shortener is only available from the Google Toolbar and FeedBurner.

The Google URL Shortener, the official name of the new service, you can shrink those long URLs. In addition, the service generates a new, very short link that redirects to the site you want. Many other companies have similar offerings.

Currently, the Google URL Shortener can be used exclusively in connection with the Google Toolbar, and FeedBurner. Another way to use the Short URL goo.gl does not yet exist. Google praises above all the accessibility of the service, since the reliable infrastructure of the search engine operator is used. Furthermore, the system automatically checks whether the link might lead to a dangerous site.
