Firefox Tips – How to Make GMail the Default Firefox email Client

You must have noticed an e-mail link in your browser, whenever you click to open, it will launch the defult email client configured to your computer ( e.g., Outlook Express). But most of us use Gmail and Yahoo mail, and in firefox the option is available to change the default email client according to your preferences.

 

Navigate to Tools and options (Firefox and Preferences on a Mac).

1)       Select Applications Tab.

2)       Search “mailto”.

3)       In the drop-down menu Choose Yahoo Mail, if you want Yahoo mail as your default email client.

Follow the instructions below for how to use Gmail.

1)       Open your Gmail in Firefox and login with your username and password.

2)        Now copy the code below in green and replace with the url in the gmail window (which you logged-in)

javascript:window.navigator.registerProtocolHandler(“mailto”,”https://mail.google.com/mail/?extsrc=mailto&url=%s”,”GMail”)

3)       Click to Add application.

4)       Once done.Follow similar steps which we did for Yahoo. Now in dropdown list you should be able to view Gmail.Select GMail.
