Download UxStyle Core beta to Install Third-Party Themes in Windows

Rafael Rivera from Within Windows has released UxStyle Core beta and is now available for download. UxStyle allows you to patch Windows and install the third-party themes easily without playing with system files. The current release does not have theme manager and user interface and will run as a service in background allowing you to use 3rd party themes.

Earlier, Rafael has been modifying a system file called Uxtheme.dll for unlocking the ability to use custom .msstyle files since 9 years when Windows Whistler emerged and has been providing the pre-patched Uxtheme.dll for the entire Windows version for free.

Windows doesn’t allow use of 3rd party themes by default. UxStyle, developed by Rafael allows you to patch Windows without playing with system files. The tool handles the enabling/disabling of custom theme support and the kernel driver handles patching. For 64-bit platforms, the kernel driver is signed with a digital certificate, as required by Microsoft.

There are currently two versions-

• UxStyle Core which offers functionality closest to the pre-patched files as possible and is free.
• UxStyle Premium – Same as core, but has live/automatic updates and additional code to correct the infamous “Windows Aero” theme name issue in the Appearance Settings window on Windows Vista/7.

UxStyle will drop the beta tag alongside Windows 7 release, near the 2009 holiday season and will officially end support for pre-patched files at that time. Supports Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
