Download Free uSbuntu Live Creator v1.5 to Create Bootable USB Key for Windows

| More

uSbuntu Live Creator is a free software for Windows that allows you to create a bootable USB key with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04 on it. This software also offers an exclusive option of automatic virtualization to launch directly Ubuntu in Windows without any configuration or installation.

Main features of uSbuntu Live Creator are-

  • Create bootable USB device from Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Mint or CrunchBang
  • Enable persistency of your data
  • Launch Ubuntu directly in Windows with a special Portable VirtualBox
  • Hide created files on the key
  • Automatically configure keyboards (supports French, canadian and US keyboards)

How to Create an uSbuntu key?

  1. Launch the uSbuntu Live Creator and choose a USB key or drive in the list
  2. Select a ISO file or CD of Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Xubuntu 8.10 or 9.04
  3. Choose the size of persistency data (usually more than 250MB)
  4. Check the options you want
  5. Click the thunder to start the creation

Moreover, each needed step (1,2 and 3) has a traffic light to indicate its state. This is the interpretation:

  • Red light : The step is not correctly fulfilled, you cannot start the creation
  • Orange light : There is a non blocking problem on the step
  • Green light : Everything is fine and perfect.

Verification Steps-

  1. To do that, go on key and double click Launch_usb.exe located in the Portable-VirtualBox folder.
  2. If nothing happens, maybe you are not logged as a local admin on your machine.
  3. If you have an error before any boot menu, it may be a sign that your usb device is just not bootable. If you made it to the boot menu, you now have these choices :
    • Persistent Mode (your data will be persistent)
    • Live Mode (all your data will be discarded after reboot)
    • Install (to install Ubuntu on your hard drive)
    • Integrity Check (check the files on your key)
    • Memory Test (can diagnose RAM problems)

Usually, you will boot with Persistent Mode. It’s the default one. If you have any problem after the boot menu, you should consider that it comes from Ubuntu and not uSbuntu Live Creator. To check the data persistency, boot on your key and create a folder on the Ubu ntu desktop then reboot. If it’s still there, the persistency is working well.
