While installing WordPress on the server, by default username ‘admin’ gets configured. The admin username is then used to login into WordPress account. The username ‘admin’ is the most common one and is vulnerable to security. A hacker might perform a brute force attack on the account to retrieve the WordPress admin login password. How to Change the Default ‘Admin’ WordPress Login Name
- Navigate to your WordPress database and select the wp_usertable and then click the browse icon.
- Locate the username ‘admin’ and click the edit icon.
- Under the user_login column, change ‘admin’ to any other preferred WordPress administrative login nameof your choice and then click go.
You should now be able to login with your new administrative WordPress login username. If you find this very tough then you may use the following plugin to change the username in WordPress instead tweaking with WordPress database.
