Search, Archive, Save and Delete File Attachments in Microsoft Outlook

| More

Most of us use Microsoft Outlook as an email client. But we are forced to delete some of the emails that contain big attachments, just to open space for newer attachments to come in. Either we delete or archive emails in Microsoft outlook in the form of pst files as backup.

With OutlookAttachView you can export or delete multiple attachments at once. Download OutlookAttachView and double click on the executable file. It will start searching all messages stored in your Outlook, and displays the list of all attached files that it finds. Wait until the search is complete. Most of the emails contain multiple embedded pictures as an attachment which you want to retain. To save the attachments navigate to the ‘Options’ and check ‘Show Inline Attachments’.

Once you’ve selected the attachments navigate to the File menu to copy the attachments to a folder, and then you can even delete the attachments in bulk to save space in your Outlook Inbox. Large attachments that you do not want to archive and take too much disk space in your mailbox can deleted easily. Attachments can be saved into xml/html/text/csv file.

SaveAllAttachments is a free Microsoft Outlook 2007 add-in that provides you an option of saving and removing attachments from multiple emails at once from your inbox. This add-in adds one menu option under “File Menu” and one button on the toolbar. Both named as “Save All Attachments”. They will only be enabled when you select one or more emails with attachments. Clicking on either one of them, you will then see the main window as the screen shot below.

Just unzip the “saveallattachmentsol2007.zip” to local drive, for example c:\olook and double-click on the setup.exe and following the on screen instructions. Once installation is completed you will notice the following options in your Microsoft Outlook.

SaveAllAttachments works well in Windows XP/Vista for Microsoft Outlook 2007. Make sure that you get .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 and Visual Studio Tools for office system 3.0 Runtime installed in order for it to function properly.
