Airtel domain opens up Vodafone website.

“Everything is fair in Love and War.” The adage stands fit in corporate world too. Corporate do not leave any single opportunity to get ahead in marketplace. Almost every company, before landing up with their product or service in real market, has their running website where customers can find the information pertaining to the company. Airtel which is one of the largest telecom company in India registered their domain name http://www.airtel.in/ (.in for Indian domain) and forgot to block or register with .com extension. Vodafone which is also a telecom major in the world took the opportunity and registered the domain http://www.airtel.com , now who ever try to open http://www.airtel.com the traffic gets routed to Vodafone portal. I do not know how ethical is this move.

I would say totally unethical move made by Vodafone. What is your verdict about this? Can name be registered? I think ‘Yes’. I tried to register mymicrosoft.com and various other combinations which included word ‘Microsoft’ via Google Apps but I failed to register it since the name was not supported by Google Apps. I think the name can be registered so that nobody can register it with same name but with different extensions.
