| More

After spending fifteen years Acrobat finally entered the online arena by launching acrobat.com, without which the adobe was loosing market share by a considerable amount. Acrobat.com is a suite of online services hosted by Adobe that you can use to create documents together and share them with others. It helps people get document work done faster, without email attachments or version confusion, and it makes your documents look great so that you and your work look great, too.

Acrobat has started with three distinctive applications:

  1. Adobe Buzzword – For creating and reviewing documents together. But it currently imports and exports plain text (TXT), rich text format (RTF), Microsoft Word (DOC and DOCX), and Word 2003 XML files. Buzzword also exports to Adobe PDF and HTML. The app can become popular as it is only the online utility that supports the Office 2007 xml based file format (.docx)
  2. Adobe ConnectNow – It is a free web conferencing solution you can use to instantly communicate and collaborate using your own online meeting room with up to three people. But the limit to three people is very less. To include more people in discussion you may go for pro account. It is very easy to use. To start a meeting, just open a browser window and enter your unique meeting room URL, which never changes. Invite others to join you at the same URL. There is no need to schedule meetings in advance; just go to your online meeting room at the same URL anytime you want to host a meeting. Any person can share his computer screen. One need to just click the Share My Computer Screen button. He will be prompted to download a small ConnectNow plug-in. Meeting attendees will not need to download any software unless they also want to share their screen.
  3. You can easily share 5GB of files with others online, including the ability to convert 5 documents to PDF and embed your documents in blogs, wikis or other web pages. You can convert the following file types: text (TXT, PS, RTF), Microsoft Office (DOC, XLS, PPT, PRJ), Open Office (ODT, ODP, ODS, ODG, ODF), Star Office (SWX, SXI, SXC, SXD, STW), Word Perfect (WPD), and image files (BMP, GIF, JPEG, TIFF, PNG).
