You can now embed Creative Commons licenses directly into Word, PowerPoint, and Excel documents. The Creative Commons licenses enable copyright holders to grant some or all of their rights to the public while retaining others to avoid the problems current copyright laws create for the sharing of information.

Microsoft provides with an add-in that enables you to embed a Creative Commons license into a document that you create using Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Office PowerPoint, or Microsoft Office Excel. With a Creative Commons license, authors can express their intentions regarding how their works may be used by others.

The add-in downloads the Creative Commons license you designate from the Creative Commons Web site and inserts it directly into your creative work. The addin can be used if you are using any one of the three OS – Windows Server 2003/ Windows Vista/ Windows XP. Make sure that the Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 and MS Office 2007 Suite is installed on your PC before using the add-in.
