Accessing Gmail from other email clients

| More

Have you wondered how to access your gmail mail messages when you are in office and the internet sites like gmail, yahoo etc is blocked.Well, here is the solution. You will be able to view your mail in your office outlook or some other email client as soon as it arrives into your gmail inbox. This service is offered by gmail and is known as POP .

POP, or Post Office Protocol, allows you download messages from Gmail’s servers onto your computer so you can access your mail with a program like Microsoft Outlook Express or Netscape Mail, even when you aren’t connected to the Internet.

The good part of this service is that the POP access is free for all Gmail users. To forward to any other email account other than gmail it’s very easy but if you want to forward the mails from gmail inbox to Microsoft outlook then there are some steps one needs to follow.

To enable POP in your Gmail account:

1.Log in to your Gmail account.

2.Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.

3.Click Forwarding and POP.

4.Select Enable POP for all mail or Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on.

5.Choose the action you’d like your Gmail messages to take after they are accessed with POP.

6.Configure your POP client and click Save Changes.

The below screenshot is self explanatory.
