Access Windows SkyDrive, Amazon S3, Zoho and Google Docs directly from Desktop

SkyDrive is excellent file storage and sharing service offered by Windows Live. The files can then be accessed directly from any web browser. Additionally, you can set the security rules to make the files private, share with contacts, or make the files public using your Windows Live ID. Publicly-shared files do not require a Windows Live ID to access. The SkyDrive currently offers 25 GB of free personal storage, with individual files limited to 50 MB. Microsoft has not released desktop version of SkyDrive till date and sometime it is very annoying to access SkyDrive via browser. This tutorial will guide you about how to make desktop version of SkyDrive.

 

With Gladinet that uses cloud computing, you can access your SkyDrive directly from desktop. The Gladinet Drive is a mapped network drive on a user’s PC which provides access to web storage from local folders (Virtual Directories). It can be opened directly from the Gladinet Systray menu. Follow the simple steps below to login to SkyDrive via Gladient-

 

Step -1- Download and install Gladient.

Step -2- During the setup, Check the ‘Start WebClient if necessary’ check box.

Step -3- Run the program once the instillation is completed.

Step -4- Click Mount Disk Storage or Web Storage as Virtual Directory’.

Step -5- From the drop-down box, select ‘Windows Live SkyDrive’.

Step -6- Type Windows Live ID and password, and click ‘Add’. You should now access your SkyDrive directly from your desktop.

 

 

To add more services like Google Docs/Spreadsheet, Picasa Web Albums, Amazon S3, Thinkfree Suite or Zoho just right-click the Gladinet icon in the system tray, and click ‘Start Page’.

 

 

To add other services and access directly from your computer desk just follow the steps above.
