Many of us love using command line, do you know that you can easily do a quick search on google, youtube, Wikipedia, Yahoo and other popular sites on any topic using command line. You need not to switch between various websites to search for a topic of your interest anymore. You need to write some commands on any of the following apps that support searching using command line to get the results.
1) Yubnub – It is an old and excellent command line tool for geeks. You can search of anything on any web service using a simple command. If you want to search on Books on Blog in Google then just type “g books blog”. “yt Bryan Adams? does a search on Youtube for Bryan Adams. Initially it is somewhat difficult but once you are used to with the commands, you can do just about anything from that single command line. This can save your considerable time as you need not to visit that site. Using yubnub you can easily search on popular web services like Google, Wikipedia, CNN, Yahoo, Amazon, eBay and many more. 2) Goosh -The application developed by Stefan Grothkopp works excellent. You can search anything on google, wikipedia or any other website or blog. You can even search easily the videos, images or feeds by command line. Translation of language can also be done effectively. To get the whole list of command open goosh.org and type h or help. But it only give 4 results for each command you fire.
3) Goose - Goose (GOOge SEarch) allows you to search Google’s index of the Internet from the command line. You run Goose, giving it your list of search terms, and it presents a list of search results using an easy to navigate Curses display in your terminal. You can then select a search result to open in your web browser.
4) Command line tool - This command line tool searches Internet for a specified string using the Google search engine. For more information visit.securityteam.
5) Sugarcodes – According to me it is one of the best command line search after yubnub and goosh. It works similarly like yubnub.The best part of this application is that You don’t need to remember the codes. While typing the first character(s) a list of matching codes will appear instantly on main page only.
