Twitter is a good source of free traffic. If Mashable or TechCrunch share a link on Twitter, the target blog can expect around 3.5k to 6k visitors. Both the blogs have around 300K followers. People tend to follow you on twitter if your twitter profile is powerful. They will not only follow you but will share links all across the twitter to generate free traffic for you. Recently, I stumbled across a presentation by Kevin Rose that talks about 10 ways to increase twitter followers.
